ACT Entertainment Illuminated the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Spectacle

In the heart of Indianapolis' Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the stage for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game was transformed into a spectacle of light and technology, courtesy of Dodd Technologies.

The stage, featuring an all-LED design, included an upstage wall, side walls that followed the seating lines, and a large LED floor. Dodd Technologies, as the production partner for the event, worked closely with Pacer Sports & Entertainment to create a stage that resembled part of the court's existing architecture.

For the halftime show, Dodd Technologies utilized Ayrton lighting fixtures, including fifty Khamsins and sixteen Zonda 9 FX. The Khamsins, mounted in trusses above the main stage, delivered key lighting and effects, while the Zonda 9 FX provided backlight for the main stage and highlighted players' exits from the tunnels.

Seventy-four laser-source Cobra2s were deployed for the event, used for beam effects outlining the court, scanning effects, and unique projections on the court. These laser-source Cobra2s added an extra layer of excitement to the halftime show.

Dodd Technologies had a complement of gear for the lighting control, provided by Dodd Technologies, and two full-size grandMA3 consoles were operated on the ground and at FOH for focus during the halftime show. One backup grandMA3 unit was moved to the FOH position for added safety and control.

The company's decision to use the grandMA platform for lighting control, a choice they've made for about 15 years, was aided by the support received from ACT and MA Lighting. The seller of the Ayrton, MA Lighting, and MDG brands in North America, Meyer Sound, also played a role in this collaboration.

Dodd Technologies, led by Andy Meggenhofen as the event's lighting designer, also placed four MDG ATMe haze generators with fans in the four corners of the catwalk for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.

With their expertise in lighting and production, Dodd Technologies has made a name for themselves, having worked on the 2024 NBA All-Star Game and several major sports events. Their work on the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game included the halftime show, musical team introductions, and other performances during the All-Star Weekend events. The WNBA Skills Challenge took place on July 18, with the game being aired live on ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+.
