Association Saves Beloved Zille Crossing in Marienthal
The Association for Leisure in the Regensburg Area has stepped in to support the operation of the Zille in Marienthal. A donation of 4,000 euros will ensure the popular crossing on the Regen remains open, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike. The Zille plays a central role in the region's leisure activities and is cherished by many, including Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer and Second Mayor Bruno Mars.
The Zille Marienthal has been a beloved attraction since it was first established. It connects hiking trails and serves as a key tourist destination, drawing visitors from far and wide. State Councilor Tanja Schweiger has shown her support for the Zille operation, investing in sustainable leisure culture. The Association for Leisure regularly supports projects that expand leisure opportunities and strengthen the region sustainably.
The Zille's history is intertwined with that of Marienthal itself. Established in 1815 following the creation of a glassworks, Marienthal later became a district of Regenstauf in 1978. For many, the Zille holds personal significance. Second Mayor Bruno Mars fondly remembers crossing the Regen on the Zille with his father and continues to enjoy it with his family today.
The Association for Leisure's donation will ensure the Zille remains open from May to the end of September, enhancing the quality of life in the region. The Zille's importance for relaxation and tourism is undeniable, and with this support, it can continue to serve as a vital link in the region's leisure activities.
