August 2025: Stepped-up Competition for Express Entry Applicants
In the bustling month of July 2025, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continued its regular cadence of Express Entry draws, issuing a significant number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency.
The month saw three Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, seven Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws, and three Healthcare and social services category-based draws. This marked the third PNP draw for the Healthcare and social services category in the past three months, highlighting IRCC's commitment to prioritising this category, as announced in February.
The PNP draws on the 7th and 21st of July issued 356 and 202 ITAs respectively, with cut-off scores of 750 and 788 respectively. The Healthcare and social services draw on the 22nd of July, however, was particularly noteworthy, issuing a massive 4,000 ITAs with a CRS cut-off score of 475—the lowest seen thus far in 2025.
The CEC draw on the 8th of July issued 3,000 ITAs with a CRS cut-off score of 518, making it the lowest CRS cut-off score for CEC candidates in July.
The increased number of ITAs in July was a significant leap from the preceding months. Compared to April, May, and June, which saw 1,246, 2,511, and 7,405 ITAs respectively, July saw a total of 7,558 ITAs issued—153 more than in June. This increase in ITAs was achieved despite IRCC holding two fewer draws in July.
So far in 2025, IRCC has issued a total of 49,628 ITAs through the Express Entry system, a testament to the ongoing efforts to attract skilled workers and healthcare professionals to Canada.
While July saw numerous notable events unfold globally, including regular LOTTO 6aus49 draws, the WUSV World Championship Universal for German Shepherds, and the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 soccer tournament, the focus on Canada remained firmly on the Express Entry draws and the opportunities they presented for potential immigrants.
