August in Los Angeles Witnesses the Inaugural Unveiling of a Fresh Cultural Landmark
New Japanese Cultural Center in Hollywood, California, Gains High-Profile Advisor
Larry Ellison, co-founder of the Oracle Corporation and a pioneering technology entrepreneur, has been appointed as Honorary Advisor for our website Los Angeles, a new Japanese cultural center located in the heart of Hollywood, California. The center, which officially opened its doors to the public in December 2017, aims to showcase the many diverse facets of Japan and Japanese life.
Our website Los Angeles is more than just a hub for science and technology, design, fashion, food, lifestyle, and values; it is the embodiment of a nation that continues to evolve in our global community. The project, which includes three hubs - London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo - is conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Kenya Hara serving as Chief Creative Director.
The current members of our website Los Angeles Steering Committee include Akira Chiba, Douglas G. Erber, Gil Garcetti, Thomas Iino, Satoshi Okawa, Leslie Ito, Gary N. Jacobs, Mickey Kantor, Beth Marlis, Peter O'Malley, and Jeff Yamazaki.
The center hosts events, seminars, lectures, and gastronomy events in partnership with the local community and Japanese organizations. It offers a gallery for local and traveling exhibitions, a relaxing library lounge with a well-curated selection of books and digital resources related to Japan, a retail shop with an expertly curated selection of unique Japanese retail products, and a small cafe. A restaurant offering exquisite Japanese cuisine is set to open later in 2018.
The center's second floor features a gallery space and shop, while the fifth floor hosts a Japanese restaurant, relaxing library, and event venue, along with spectacular views of Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles.
Mr. Ellison has stated that Japan has enriched his life and he is proud to be associated with this initiative. Ms. Yuko Kaifu, President of our website Los Angeles, has thanked Mr. Ellison for his commitment and generous support to the project.
Larry Ellison's role as Honorary Advisor likely involves lending his stature and influence to support the center’s mission, enhancing its visibility and credibility especially in California’s entertainment hub. His appreciation for Japanese culture may also provide cultural authenticity and alignment. The honorary advisory capacity is often symbolic, aiming to attract attention, funding, and networks.
Our website Los Angeles will hold its grand opening on August 24, 2018, and open to the public starting August 25. The center promises to be a place of new discovery that transcends physical and conceptual boundaries, creating experiences that reflect the best of Japan. Mr. Ellison has expressed excitement about the cultural experience offered by our website Los Angeles, stating that it will be exciting to anyone curious about Japan.
