Bertie Gregory embarks on a new journey to the ocean for 'A Closer Look at Dolphins With Bertie Gregory'

In tonight's special event, "Dolphins Up Close with Bertie Gregory," viewers will have the opportunity to witness the incredible intelligence, teamwork, and cooperation of dolphins in hunting, as well as their natural behavior and predatory nature. This captivating programme premieres on National Geographic and will be available for streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

The special was filmed in the remote Azores island chain in the Atlantic Ocean, a location that proved to be the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary production. Wildlife filmmaker, National Geographic explorer, and the brains behind the special, Bertie Gregory, spent five weeks on the water, capturing the elusive moments of dolphins in their natural habitat.

Dolphins are often perceived as cute, smiley animals that love to jump out of the water, but they are also massive predators that live in large groups and are always on the move in search of food. One of the main focuses of the special was filming a "bait ball," a dense shoal of fish for dolphins and other predators to feed on.

During the shoot, Gregory encountered false killer whales, known for their jet black colour and sinister mouthful of teeth. Filming these elusive creatures was challenging, but Gregory's passion and persistence paid off, as he managed to capture the perfect shot after just one dive for five minutes.

Gregory, who is often described as one of the most patient people on earth, states that any day you see a dolphin is a good day. He claims that the sights they saw during the five weeks on the water were phenomenal, making the long hours and challenging conditions worth it.

The Walt Disney Company, parent company of National Geographic, Hulu, and this ABC station, is proud to present this special event, which aims to showcase the natural behavior and predator nature of dolphins, as well as their incredible intelligence and teamwork. Tune in tonight to witness this spectacular event and be amazed by the world of dolphins like never before.
