The Lowdown

EasyJet is embracing the summer spirit with twice-weekly non-stop flights between Bristol International Airport and Palermo Falcone Borsellino, operating from June 26th to October 12th. Passengers can expect comfortable journeys on the 186-seater A320neo airliners, offering a single economy class for enhanced onboard experience, as revealed in EasyJet's official statement.

This newly introduced Bristol-Palermo link follows two recently launched seasonal routes to Sicily's capital earlier this month. On June 3rd, EasyJet established a connection between Palermo and Lisbon, and from June 23rd, flights between Sicily and Palma de Mallorca have been up and running.

Lorenzo Lagorio, manager of EasyJet's Italian branch, expressed that the newly introduced routes aim to make Sicily "easier to reach and more connected to Europe, catering to the demands of a growing international clientele."

The introduction of three new international connections by EasyJet is music to the ears of Salvatore Burrafato, president of Gesap, who runs Palermo's airport. He anticipates these new connections to boost tourism in the Palermo region, resulting in positive economic impacts within the broader tourism sector.

Situated on Sicily's northern coast, Palermo is a magnet for European vacationers, boasting popular landmarks such as the Palermo Cathedral, the Norman Palace, and the UNESCO-protected Church of San Cataldo, captivating tourists with their rich history and enchanting architecture.

Palermo is also famous for its bustling street markets brimming with local goods and its delectable culinary traditions, offering delicacies like arancini (rice balls filled with meat sauce, cheese, and peas) and panelle (chickpea flour fritters served in a bread roll).
