This vibrant occasion takes place across diverse locations in the city, with the Design Zentrum in HafenCity serving as the epicenter of this creative hub. Additionally, various decentralized events and workshops are part of the exciting program[1][4].
Hamburg's Design Zentrum – member of the Hamburg Creative Society – aims to strengthen and showcase the significance of social design, with over 20 initiatives and designers contributing from various cities[1][4]. According to Laura Rohloff, the Design Zentrum's leader, social design is crucial to addressing local and global challenges, and it's high time the discipline gets some much-needed momentum[1][4].
A Week for Everyone
The goal of this action-packed week is to demonstrate how design can address social and ecological challenges[1][4]. The program includes exhibitions, workshops, and city actions - mainly free and open for all[1][4].
Designed for both designers and non-designers, the "Social Design Week" caters to people of all age groups, interested in community building and fostering social harmony in Hamburg.

Marie Hamann
A native Hamburger, Marie Hamann, born in 2003, has the opening lines of Kafka's "Metamorphosis" memorized - such is her deep connection to this author. An enthusiastic reader, she frequently visits theaters and museums. Her internship at the Bucerius Kunst Forum's communication department was one of her most cherished experiences. After completing her Bachelor's in Communication Design in Hamburg, she decided to further hone her communication skills and envisions herself working in public relations for cultural institutions in the future. With her love for art and language, Marie truly believes in finding beauty in life - much like the spirit of Franz Kafka, who once said: "Anyone who learns to recognize beauty will never grow old."
