In a celebrated event, Lara Rüter, a rising literary talent from Germany, has been awarded the prestigious Kranichsteiner Literature Prize for her debut poetry collection, "amoretten in netzen", published by Das Wunderhorn in 2024. This marks the 23rd edition of the award, which is one of the most significant accolades for young talent in the German-speaking world.

Born in Hannover in 1990, Rüter studied cultural sciences at the University of Hildesheim and completed a degree in literary writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. Her literary journey has been marked by several awards, including the Lyrikpreis at the 26th Open Mike, the Caroline-Schlegel-Förderpreis for essayistic writing (2020), and the Wolfgang-Weyrauch-Förderpreis at the Literarischer März (2021).

The jury commended Rüter's work, describing it as "one of the most remarkable poetry debuts of recent years". Her poems are "form-conscious and rich in allusions, without being obscure". Rüter's work moves "sovereignly on the level of contemporary discourses, without pandering to the Zeitgeist".

As the recipient of the Kranichsteiner Literature Prize, Rüter will receive a monthly salary of 1,250 euros for a period of six months. In addition, she will be provided with a furnished apartment and a means of mobility in Halle, with the support of the Halle Housing Society GmbH.

During her tenure, Rüter will focus on conducting workshops on creative writing at schools in the city. She will conclude her tenure as city writer on September 25, 2025, at the Literature House Halle.
