Commemoration of the 25th anniversary is a must on 1st May: Open House at Neusser Jugendherberge.
Experience an Unforgettable Stay at Neuss-Uedesheim's Youth Hostel
Guests at Neuss-Uedesheim's youth hostel enjoy an experience they never forget, especially those embarking on their first solo journey far from home. While it may not compete with glamorous destinations, the hostel offers a memorable time. Host father Anton Krüger stresses that his hostel is more than just a cheaper alternative to local hotels. He explains, "Our location is not central enough for that. Anyone wanting to visit Cologne or Düsseldorf would face lengthy journeys. Our primary audience is indeed youth groups - such as school classes planning a trip."
For these groups, the youth hostel provides an array of captivating activities. Children between 10 to 14 years old particularly enjoy the disco room, sun terrace, and the hostel's bed and bike accommodation. Adults can experience bike tours along the Rhine, summer skiing, and numerous hiking trails nearby. Generally, guests stay for three days, either from Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday. In exceptional cases, a trip can last a week.
The hostel is nestled in a tranquil green setting, right beside the Neuss Rhine meadows. It offers peace and relaxation after a day filled with activities. Families appreciate the cozy family rooms, extensive children's equipment, the play and craft room, and the outdoor play stations available on the large outdoor area. There are five rehearsal rooms for music groups. In breaks and evenings, the fireplace room and large sun terrace invite social hours. The hostel also features a large outdoor area with movement elements, game corners in the house, a lending library of board games, an outdoor terrace with a view of the playground, a toddler play corner, and changing facilities.
Neuss-Uedesheim may not boast spectacular landscapes, the sea, or mountains, but creativity is the key here. The hostel's core staff, Maria and Anton Krüger, have made it their lifelong task. Anton took over as host father after his civilian service in Aachen (in another youth hostel), and Maria Krüger already had prior experience with the hostel association.
Theme-based event programs ensure entertainment. For instance, "Life 1,000 years ago" offers insight into ancient living, while "Movement promotion with fun and technology" encourages physical activity and health awareness. "Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology" encourages practical understanding and use of tools and materials. "Nothing for the trash" teaches that seemingly waste products can be repurposed through "upcycling" to create something new and beautiful.
On the occasion of its anniversary, the youth hostel at Macherscheider Straße 109 invites everyone to an open house day on May 1st.
Visitors to the hostel can immerse themselves in themed programs, such as "Life 1,000 years ago" or "Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology," providing an educational and engaging other lifestyle experience. For a change of pace, guests can explore new destinations through bike tours, hiking trails, or even take a trip to nearby Cologne or Düsseldorf, blending home-and-garden tranquility with travel adventures.
