Crimea Sees 16% Tourism Surge in 2024
Crimea has witnessed a surge in tourism this year, with a significant increase in visitors from January to September. The region welcomed 745,000 tourists, a 16% rise from the previous year. August was the peak month, attracting over 1.5 million visitors, a 20% increase from the same period last year.
The South Coast was the most popular destination, drawing 40.4% of tourists, followed by the West Coast with 32.3%. The East Coast and Simferopol and Bakhchisaray districts attracted 15.6% and 11.4% of visitors respectively.
The average occupancy rate of accommodation in September reached 60%, up 7.4% from the previous year. This increase can be attributed to the rise in tourist numbers. Looking at the summer of 2024, a total of 3,775,000 people vacationed in the region, with the majority visiting in August.
The Crimean Bridge served as the primary entry point for tourists, with 62% arriving by car or bus and 23% by train.
