Eleven distinctive forms will be featured at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta this year.
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta to Feature 11 New Special Shape Balloons
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, an annual event held in New Mexico's largest city, is gearing up for an exciting spectacle this October. Julie Morgas Baca, the event's executive director, shared her enthusiasm for the special shape balloons, a tradition at the fiesta since 1989.
These unique balloons will be in the sky every day of the festival, which runs from Saturday, October 4, to Sunday, October 12. Over 500 balloons will take to the skies, with 100 of them being special shapes.
Cameron Balloons, a renowned manufacturer, has created the new special-shaped balloons for this year's event. Among the newcomers are Boo, a ghost, Como se Llama, a purple llama head, and King Capybara, a royal rodent. Some old favourites are also returning, such as the Bees - Joey the Little Bee, Joelly, and Lilly Little Bee.
Morgas Baca emphasised the importance of the special shape balloons to the traditions of the Balloon Fiesta. She stated that people look forward to seeing these unique balloons and that attendees have favourite special shape balloons.
To celebrate these special balloons, there will be two morning events and two night events dedicated to them on Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10. The new balloons hail from the United States, Brazil, and the United Kingdom, adding an international flavour to the event.
The popularity of the Balloon Fiesta and the longevity of the special shape balloons, according to Morgas Baca, are a testament to what they believed when special shapes first began. The Balloon Fiesta, held annually in Albuquerque, continues to captivate audiences and showcase the magic of flight.
