Encountered Trouble with aflat tires on a 2025 Tesla Cybertruck, 17 miles away from the main road in Montana. Nonetheless, the Hill Descent Control feature in Baja Mode came to the rescue.
In an unexpected turn of events, a Tesla Cybertruck owned by Jeff Hart proved its resilience during a tire blowout incident in Montana.
Jeff Hart was driving his new Cybertruck when he encountered a tire blowout, 17 miles from the nearest pavement. With no tow truck in sight, Hart activated the Cybertruck's off-road mode and Baja mode to navigate towards the highway.
Despite the tire blowout, the Cybertruck did not buckle. Using smart suspension geometry and software-tuned descent control, it was able to creep down the mountain at a controlled 5 miles per hour. The Baja mode descent control was particularly praised for allowing Hart to safely descend without losing control or compounding the damage.
However, Hart needed a tire plug, and to do so, he had to destroy the tire. John at Liberty Lake Tesla allowed him to order a new tire for the next day. In the meantime, Hart obtained a new tire from Rama in Missoula and had it installed on his Cybertruck.
The Cybertruck is available in three variants: RWD Long Range, dual-motor AWD, and tri-motor "Cyberbeast" AWD. The RWD Long Range model, priced at $69,990 (before tax credit), offers a 350-mile range.
The Cybertruck's unique features include an ultra-hard 30x cold-rolled stainless steel exoskeleton and an integrated 48V electrical system, which eschews paint for ruggedness and weight savings. This design was recently adopted by the U.S. Air Force for live-fire testing.
However, the Cybertruck's polarizing design and some reported failures have raised concerns. A user reported a light bar beginning to detach after driving in 114 °F, raising questions about component bonding in extreme environments. Critics have also noted the Cybertruck's limited practicality, safety and regulatory issues, and some have called it more "meme car" than industrial workhorse.
Despite these concerns, the Cybertruck has proven its capabilities in unexpected situations, as demonstrated by Jeff Hart's incident. For precise information about the Cybertruck's standard tire specifications, it would be best to consult Tesla's official documentation or contact a dealership directly.
