London's Heathrow Airport has taken a novel approach to enhance the travel experience this summer, with the creation of a soundtrack that captures the essence of airport life. The track, titled "Music for Heathrow," was composed by Grammy-nominated musician Jordan Rakei, making it the first of its kind to be entirely composed from airport sounds.

The soundtrack, announced by Heathrow Airport on Tuesday, incorporates over 50 sounds such as travelers' footsteps, passports being stamped, and aircraft engines. To bring the track to life, Rakei was given unprecedented access to Europe's busiest airport, Heathrow, where he sampled more than 50 sounds from the airfield, baggage handling systems, and terminals.

Pop culture Easter eggs can be found throughout the track, with the sound of tapping feet from the 2002 movie "Bend It Like Beckham" and beeping from a Heathrow security scanner in the 2003 rom-com "Love Actually." Jordan Rakei expressed his delight at turning Heathrow's many sounds into music, stating it was an honor to be part of this unique project.

In addition to the soundtrack, Heathrow Airport is bringing back live music acts, hosting seven concerts on Fridays in July. This initiative is part of the "Busk in London" program, which aims to bring the sounds of London's most exciting live music talent to the airport. Live music performances will take place every Friday in July across all Heathrow terminals.

After "Music for Heathrow," Heathrow Airport expects to offer musical performances for approximately 250,000 flyers each day this summer. This move follows in the footsteps of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, which hosted a rooftop concert to celebrate its 50th anniversary last summer, aiming to lighten travelers' mood.

As travelers prepare for their summer getaways, they can look forward to a more musical journey at Heathrow Airport. With "Music for Heathrow" setting the tone, it seems that the airport is making every effort to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for its passengers.

The soundtrack titled "Music for Heathrow," created by Jordan Rakei, features various airport sounds and incorporates elements from popular movies like "Bend It Like Beckham" and "Love Actually," providing an unique blend of airport life and entertainment. In conjunction with the soundtrack, live music acts will be performing across all Heathrow terminals every Friday in July as part of the "Busk in London" program, enhancing the travel experience by offering a mix of business and lifestyle, making the journey more enjoyable for approximately 250,000 flyers each day this summer.
