In the world of progressive rock and metal, the week has been filled with exciting new releases and announcements. Here's a roundup of some of the most noteworthy developments.

The Icelandic retro prog rockers, The Vintage Caravan, have unveiled a new single, Crossroads, from their upcoming album, Portals. Due for release on September 26 through Napalm Records, this single promises to be a captivating addition to their discography.

Meanwhile, Sean Timms and Ed Unitsky have been involved in the creation of Mark Trueack's new album. Mark's new single, Show Me How To Love, is jazz-infused and will be released through OOB Records in October. However, the accompanying video for Show Me How To Love was created by Michael Camlo, and it's not yet clear if this single is part of the same album.

Speaking of Mark Trueack, his new single is not the only exciting news in his career. He is also working on a new album, Journeys Groove - An Adventure In Life, from which Show Me How To Love is taken.

In other news, the Australian proggers Teramaze have re-recorded their 2015 album Her Halo live at Bakehouse Studios. The live take of the epic twelve and a half minutes of An Ordinary Dream is a testament to their masterful performances.

NYOS, an instrumental art rock duo, have also been making waves. Their latest album, Growl, will be released through Pelagic Records in October. The driving, off-the-wall sounds of new single Superstar offer a tantalising taste of what's to come.

The duo released their new album in October 2025, not 2023 as previously mentioned. In case of any confusion, their previous album was not Growl.

In the realm of progressive metal, Swallow The Sun have made history by garnering their very first Finnish Grammy Award with their album Shining. The doom-laden Finnish prog metal band, with Velvet Chains taken from their 2024 album Shining, have solidified their place in the Finnish music industry.

The band's success didn't stop there, as they won last week's Tracks Of The Week with their live clip of Chalk & Coal. Iamthemorning, another progressive band under the umbrella, was in second place, and Dutch prog trio Our Oceans were third.

Jonathan Hultén, a former Tribulation guitarist, has also been making strides in his solo career. His second studio album, Eyes Of The Living Night, was released at the beginning of the year through Kscope. The song Dawn was the first written for the album, and it offers richly atmospheric and engagingly textured music, unlike his metal past.

As the progressive music scene continues to evolve, these releases and announcements serve as a testament to the genre's enduring appeal and the creativity of its artists. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
