Hidden Gem Warkworth Gains Global Recognition for Beach and Harry Potter Castle

Warkworth, a charming village in Northumberland, is often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours. However, this hidden gem has recently gained global recognition as a trending destination, boasting a stunning beach and a castle with a magical past.

Warkworth Beach, a long stretch of sand and calm water, has been listed as a trending beach destination by Airbnb. It's perfect for swimming and offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of everyday life. The village itself has been named one of the top trending best destinations in the world, a testament to its growing popularity.

Warkworth's claim to fame lies in its castle, which served as a filming location for the first two Harry Potter films. Directed by Chris Columbus, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' and 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' brought a touch of magic to the castle, which doubled as Hogwarts. The castle, remarkably well-preserved, offers visitors a glimpse into the past with its Duke's Rooms, Great Tower, Great Hall, kitchens, underground vaults, and an incomplete church.

Interestingly, there's another Warkworth in Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada, which also has a river called Burnley Creek. This adds a touch of intrigue to the village's history and geography.

Warkworth, with its beautiful beach, historic castle, and Harry Potter connection, is a destination worth visiting. Tickets to Warkworth Castle cost £10 for adults and £6 for children when booked in advance, and £12 and £7.50 on the day. Despite its recent recognition, Warkworth remains an overlooked day trip destination, offering a unique blend of history, nature, and magic.
