Historic European Buildings Transformed into Luxury Accommodations

Several historic buildings across Europe have been transformed into luxurious accommodations, blending past grandeur with modern comforts. From Corsica to Greece, these restored properties offer unique experiences for discerning travellers.

In Corsica, Domaine de Murtoli has unveiled A Mandria, a new hotel nestled in the village of Sartène. The farmhouse-style accommodations provide a rustic retreat, while the restaurant focuses on authentic Italian cuisine. Guests can enjoy a pool, garden, and the charming surroundings.

Meanwhile, in Florence, Palazzo Ottaviani, a rationalist palace, has been converted into serviced apartments by Lungarno Hotels. Designer Luigi Fragola created the interiors, featuring slate-grey marble and polished wood, offering a blend of historic charm and contemporary style. The restoration was helmed by Giovanni Michelucci.

Across the Mediterranean, Imaret in Kavala, Greece, has reopened as a hotel after careful restoration. This Ottoman madrassa complex now offers eight domed suites, with a minimum five-night stay including cultural excursions, meals, and amenities. The largest suite boasts a terrace capable of hosting up to 50 people.

Back in Europe, Palacete Severo, a former architect's mansion in Porto, has been converted into a 20-room hotel. This historic property now houses a spa and art gallery, offering guests a unique blend of history and luxury.

These transformed properties offer more than just a place to stay; they provide immersive experiences that celebrate their unique histories and locations. From the rustic charm of A Mandria to the grand elegance of Palazzo Ottaviani and Imaret, each offers a distinct escape for those seeking a touch of history in their travels.
