Kuehne + Nagel Expands US Operations With New El Paso Cross-Dock
Logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel is expanding its operations in the US. The company is set to open a new cross-dock news facility in El Paso, Texas, this August. This move comes amidst a significant increase in container bookings between China and Mexico, and a rise in shipments from Mexico to the US.
The new cross-dock, situated just 10km from the El Paso port of entry, will span 140,000 square feet. It will boast 54 dock doors, front and rear crossdock capability, and ample space for 125 truck yards. This will significantly increase Kuehne + Nagel's warehouse footprint and improve building efficiencies.
The facility will play a crucial role in supporting the distribution of automotive raw materials from the US to Mexico, and finished goods in the opposite direction. It will serve assembly plants and top-tier suppliers, further bolstering the company's presence in the automotive sector.
The new cross-dock is part of Kuehne + Nagel's strategic expansion plan. The company has committed to an initial seven-year period of operations at this location. This move aligns with the company's goal to support the growing trade volumes between the US and Mexico.
The opening of the El Paso cross-dock is a significant news development for Kuehne + Nagel. It will support the increase in goods movements to the north and south over the border, and further strengthen the company's position in the US market. While the identity of the new Regional Vice President for the Central Region remains unannounced, the company's expansion plans continue apace.
