Tourism Authority Head, Bunge, Shifts Base to Luxembourg - Luxembourg-bound: Tourism Leader Bunge Changes Location

Germany's Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Chief, Dr. Bettina Bunge, announced her move to Luxembourg, effective from November 1st. Bunge will assume the role of the Chief Executive Officer (Director General) at the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB).

In her new position, Bunge will focus on global marketing for Luxembourg's meetings and conventions sector. She commented, "It was an exciting task to guide tourism marketing and management for the real north into future-oriented paths. However, I will miss Schleswig-Holstein both professionally and personally."

Bettina Bunge has served as the Managing Director of the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH) since November 2017. Her work involved strategic development, professionalizing marketing, restructuring collaborations, and substantially shaping Schleswig-Holstein's Tourism.

Economy State Secretary Julia Carstens expressed regret at Bunge's departure. The government will shortly advertise her position. The north, with around 9.4 million overnight stays and over 38 million overnight stays including camping in 2024, achieved a record result, taking fifth place among the federal states.

In Luxembourg, Bunge will lead the LCB's initiatives to strengthen international partnerships and embrace digital transformation. Her goal is to sustainably position Luxembourg as a leading European destination for high-value professional and business events. The LCB is adopting a new branding strategy, "MEET. CONNECT. ACCELERATE."

Dr. Bettina Bunge's appointment is part of Luxembourg's strategic renewal in 2025. As a recognized expert in destination marketing with extensive international experience, she has led several tourist offices in Germany. Her arrival reinforces Luxembourg's ambition to establish itself as a premier European hub for the business events industry.

In her new role as the CEO (Director General) of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB), Dr. Bettina Bunge will strive to implement an employment policy that focuses on global marketing, digital transformation, and the development of Luxembourg as a leading destination for professional events, mirroring her lifestyle of adaptability and innovation.

As Dr. Bettina Bunge transitions from her position at the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH) to the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB), she will continue to employ her proven expertise in destination marketing and employment policy to travel extensively, establishing international partnerships, and championing sustainable growth, ensuring Luxembourg's competitive edge in the European business events sector.
