In 2025, the New York City Summer Streets program is set to make a significant expansion, covering all five boroughs over five consecutive Saturdays. This unique event, which transforms city streets into shared spaces for movement, culture, and creativity, will take place from 7 am to 3 pm each day.

The schedule for the 2025 edition is as follows:

  • July 26: Queens and Staten Island
  • August 2, 9, 16: Manhattan
  • August 23: Brooklyn and The Bronx

This year's program promises to be the largest yet, celebrating NYC's 400th anniversary by opening over 400 blocks of car-free space. Activities include group bike rides, run-and-walk events, free cultural programs, performances, fitness classes, interactive art, and giveaways. Citi Bike day passes sponsored by Lyft are available with a special promo code to encourage biking.

Manhattan will host three Saturdays of events, featuring extensive car-free street space, cultural performances, and fitness offerings. Queens and Staten Island will kick off the program with free outdoor activities and community events on July 26. The program concludes with Brooklyn and The Bronx on August 23, continuing the theme of open streets with family-friendly activities, art, and exercise options.

Additional context: Mayor Adams' administration is also enhancing outdoor public space access citywide in 2025 through initiatives like “We Outside Summer” and “Schoolyards to Playgrounds” to complement Summer Streets by opening more green spaces and schoolyards to the public during summer.
