Siobhan Edwards, a 23-year-old from Brisbane, is making history as the 2023 Queensland Rose at the Rose of Tralee International Festival 2025. As the daughter of Alannah Mahony, the 1989 Queensland Rose, Siobhan has a strong connection to her Irish heritage, being a proud fourth-generation Irish Australian with great-grandparents from Co Cork and Co Limerick.

Siobhan recently graduated from university, where she studied Politics and Marketing. Currently, she works in strategy consulting at Deloitte, collaborating with local government clients across various industries. Her lifelong connections to the Queensland Rose community, coupled with her personal dream of following in her mother's footsteps, led her to independently enter this year's competition.

Upon her arrival in Ireland for the first time, Siobhan found the weather to be different from her expectations. However, she quickly immersed herself in the festival's atmosphere, viewing the Rose of Tralee as a representation of empowering modern Irish womanhood.

Siobhan has formed instant connections with the other 32 Roses, valuing the friendships she's made during the festival as valuable and long-lasting. The Rose of Tralee International Festival 2025 will air on RTE One and can be streamed on RTE Player on Monday and Tuesday at 8pm.

The Rose of Tralee competition, a significant event for celebrating the Irish community and culture, even when Irish people are living abroad, has provided Siobhan with an unforgettable experience. As she navigates through her journey, she continues to embody the spirit of her Irish roots and the modern Australian woman.
