Republic of Ghana debuts nationwide health app, developed by OeSD.
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) of Ghana has launched the MyNHIS app, a digital platform designed to streamline the management of health insurance membership and access to related services for its members.
This innovative app offers a range of user-friendly features that include managing NHIS membership status and details, accessing a list of NHIS-accredited health facilities across Ghana, facilitating the digital NHIS card process, and providing easy steps to access NHIS services digitally.
One of the standout advantages of the MyNHIS app is its accessibility. It is available for iPhone (iOS 11.0 or later), iPod touch, Mac (with Apple M1 chip or later), Apple Vision, and Android devices, ensuring that a significant portion of Ghana's population can benefit from this digital solution.
The app also caters to Ghanaian expats, allowing payments from abroad, making it easier for them to support their families' health insurance needs back home.
Bernard Okoe-Boye, CEO of Ghana NHIA, expressed his satisfaction with the expansion of the MyNHIS app, stating that it would enhance health insurance coverage in the population. He added that the digital innovation has significantly increased the number of members who renew their membership annually.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, also expressed his pleasure with the improvements made in the National Health Insurance Scheme, highlighting the MyNHIS app as a significant improvement for general healthcare nationwide.
Schwendimann, from the app's developer, Austrian our website (OeSD), emphasized that the expansion of MyNHIS will further improve the accessibility of healthcare for all Ghanaian citizens. He also mentioned plans for further expansion of the app with additional features and capabilities in the coming months.
The MyNHIS app is a new solution for Ghana's National Health Insurance System, aiming to digitize services, improve accessibility, and enhance efficiency in health insurance management. With over 73% of citizens aged 12 and above having access to a smartphone, the app is poised to revolutionize the way Ghanaians manage their health insurance.
The expansion of the MyNHIS app represents Ghana's ongoing efforts to modernize the National Health Insurance Scheme by leveraging technology to enhance user experience and service delivery across the country. The app is free to download on the Google Play Store for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iOS devices.
