Royal couple, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, hold talks with Japan's imperial family.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie, have embarked on a memorable journey to Japan, a trip that will last until Monday, September 22.
Upon their arrival, the royal couple was greeted with a packed schedule, starting with a meeting at the Imperial Palace with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. Sophie, the Duchess, dazzled in a blue Gabriela Hearst dress adorned with cherry blossoms, a symbol of spring in Japan. The meeting was also attended by Crown Prince Akishino's son, Prince Hisahito, who recently participated in a traditional coming-of-age ceremony.
The royal visit was marked by a tree planting ceremony at the Akasaka State Guest House, commemorating Queen Elizabeth's visit in 1975. The Duke and Duchess also had the opportunity to watch a wrestling match at the National Sumo Arena, celebrating Japan's national sport.
Crown Prince Akishino and his wife, Crown Princess Kiko, welcomed Prince Edward and Sophie at a reception held at the British Ambassador's residence in Tokyo. The Duke and Duchess also attended a reception, where they were warmly received by the British community in Japan.

Unfortunately, Prince Edward was absent during Katharine, Duchess of Kent's funeral at Westminster Cathedral in London. However, the Duke and Duchess's absence was due to their current visit to Japan.
In addition to their professional lives, Rachel King and her family reside in New York, sharing their home with a precocious labradoodle.
During their visit, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will also visit Koyasan, a sacred monastery complex for Shingon Buddhism and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the mountains outside of Osaka.
Their visit to Japan coincides with Prince Hisahito's participation in a traditional coming-of-age ceremony, making this a significant cultural exchange between the two nations.
