Saving on Danish Train Travel This Summer: Tips and Tricks

Unwind Your Summer with Orange Trains!By Michael Barrett

Get ready to save big on rail travel this summer! Denmark's rail operator, DSB, might have pulled the plug on their popular travel pass, but they've got another surprise up their sleeve. Introducing the Orange tickets—your ticket to savings on trains nationwide!

So Long, Summer Pass; Hello, Orange Tickets!

Remember the travel pass DSB introduced in 2020 during the pandemic, offering free public transportation for eight days? Unfortunately, it's gone for good. But don't worry, Orange tickets are here to fill that void!

Orange Tickets: All Aboard the Budget Savings Train!

Orange tickets are reduced-price train tickets, offered by DSB, available for specific departure times. They're up for grabs on a first-come, first-served basis, and you better act fast, because one million of these beauty tokens are available between June 20th and August 3rd!

Scoop the Deals, Beat the Crowd!

Picture this: a journey from Aalborg to Copenhagen for just 99 kroner, a savings of 423 kroner, on several departures throughout the afternoon of June 26th! And that's just one example. Keep in mind that these tickets can't be refunded or changed, but if you're traveling with up to two kids under 12, they get to ride for free. Kids aged 12-15 hopping on the train get half-price fares!

Crossing the Border? No Problem!

If you fancy a little adventure into Sweden, Skånetrafiken's tourist ticket is your answer! For a lower price, you can enjoy unlimited travel within the Skåne region and on the Danish side of the Oresund, including destinations like Helsingør and Gilleleje. The ticket costs 299 Swedish kronor (200 Danish kroner) for 48 hours. If you want to extend your journey to Copenhagen, the price jumps to 599 kronor (415 kroner).
