Spate of events and celebrations revealed for the "Experience Winter in Qatar" initiative
Qatar is gearing up for an exciting winter season, as the country unveils a range of cultural events, festivals, and attractions aimed at boosting domestic and international tourism. The 2023 winter campaign, aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, offers a diverse mix of experiences during the milder climate period.
Visitors can explore major cultural sites like the National Museum of Qatar, Sheikh Faisal Museum, Msheireb Museums, and the Museum of Modern Arab Art. Iconic locations such as Souq Waqif and scenic natural wonders like Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea) provide authentic cultural and adventure experiences. Additionally, camel racing events and farm-stay experiences in rural areas appeal to those interested in Qatar's heritage and landscapes.
New resort developments like Salwa Beach Resort and West Bay Lagoon Resort enhance options for both relaxation and adventure tourism. The winter season also coincides with the promotion of various festivals and competitions, such as the 10th Senyar Festival, a notable cultural event with strong competition and festive atmospheres.
Qatar Tourist (QT) and Qatar Airways have announced a lineup of winter events and occasions called "Feeling Wintertime in Qatar." The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibit will take place at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from February 20 to 23. The 12th Qatar International Food Festival will occur from March 1 to 11 at Hotel Park.
The "Feeling Wintertime in Qatar" project includes family-friendly activities, athletic events, concerts, and rewards for food, shopping, and jewelry lovers. The Disney Princess Concert, featuring Broadway and West End's most renowned artists, along with the Qatar Philharmonic Band, will be held at Katara Ampitheatre from January 26 to January 28.
The third Qatar Balloon Festival is part of the winter project, with over 50 hot air balloons from 17 different countries on display for nine days or until January 28. Qatar Live, running from January 26 to the end of the season, features live entertainment, delicious food trucks and cubicles, and giant illuminated kites on display daily.
Qatar Tourism aims to welcome six million visitors every year by 2030. The Qatar ExxonMobil Open (tennis) will be held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from February 20 to 25. Al Shaqab will host equestrian events, Hayaakum at Shaqab, Commercial Bank CHI Al Shaqab Provided by Longines 2023, from February 23 to 25. The Qatar TotalEnergies Open (tennis) will be held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from February 13 to 18.
In a press conference at Mina Hotel and Residences, Qatar Tourism announced its new ambassador, Qatari rally driver Nasser Abdullah Al Attiyah, who recently won the Dakar Rally car crown for the fifth time. The 2023 winter campaign includes Qatar Live and the third Qatar Balloon Festival, with more details of events like Ramadan Fete and the Qatar GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup 2023 to be announced later.
