Tasmania's Emergency Services Get Boost with Airbus H145 Helicopters
Tasmania's emergency services are set for a boost with the arrival of Airbus' H145 helicopters. The fleet, ordered by StarFlight, will enter service in late 2027, operating from Hobart and supporting a range of crucial missions.
The H145's versatility was a key factor in its selection. It can rapidly reconfigure for different tasks, making it ideal for aeromedical, search and rescue, and aerial law enforcement. Each aircraft can fly around 1,500 hours annually over the next decade, ensuring robust coverage.
Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145 offers reliability and advanced technology. Its spacious cabin and Helionix avionics suite make it well-suited for emergency medical services (EMS). Worldwide, over 1,750 H145 family helicopters are in service, with nearly 600 used for HEMS missions. Airbus will provide parts support through its local ecosystem.
The H145 fleet will significantly enhance Tasmania's emergency services capabilities. Based in Hobart, it will support lifesaving missions across the state. With Airbus' backing, the fleet's reliability and performance are assured.
