"Experiencing initial apprehension, yet eventually finding a warm reception, encapsulates the experience for a female journalist in the bike industry, as she navigates through the masculine sphere."

The experience can initially be daunting, but once aggressive male showmanship subsides, it turns out to be a welcoming environment - such is the feel for a female journalist in the motorbike sector.

Nathalie Schneitter, an accomplished mountain biker, shares her experiences in the world of off-road cycling. As a grown woman, she continues to embrace her love for biking and the thrill of off-road riding.

Schneitter, the author of numerous articles about mountain biking, has encountered a community that is far from elitist. She often engages in friendly conversations and bike-related discussions with fellow mountain bikers. This inclusive atmosphere is one of the most welcoming and considerate communities she has encountered.

One issue Schneitter addresses is the problem of class-based stereotypes and elitism in the mountain bike media, as highlighted by Ollie Cain. Despite this, she wishes to see more female mountain bike journalists on press trips, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive representation of the sport.

Schneitter has had good experiences with fellow riders both inside and outside the bike industry. At industry events, while she has felt a little out of place at times, she has always found everyone to be lovely. She even made new friends at the Coed y Brenin event earlier this year.

Her dog was looked after by a spectator during the Coed y Brenin event, a testament to the community's accommodating nature. Schneitter participated in an Enduro-style event at Coed y Brenin, which she found to be one of the best days on her bike.

Schneitter finds road cycling to be a little more nit-picky compared to mountain biking. In contrast, she feels comfortable in the still male-dominated sport of mountain biking. She has never felt disrespected at events or races in the mountain biking community.

Despite being a seasoned rider, Schneitter occasionally encounters younger riders who challenge her skills at local jumps. This friendly competition is part of what keeps her passionate about the sport.

Schneitter encourages newcomers to mountain biking to just get on any old bike and ride. With a community as welcoming as the one she has found in mountain biking, it's easy to see why she believes that the people she meets in this sport will restore one's faith in humanity.
