Tokyo and Berlin Join Top Destinations for Executive Nomads in 2025
Tokyo and Berlin have joined the ranks of emerging destinations for high-earning remote professionals in Savills' Executive Nomad Index 2025. They are accompanied by new entrants Auckland, Crete, and Vancouver. Dubai retains its top spot for the third consecutive year, with Abu Dhabi following closely. Executive nomads, who combine business needs with lifestyle choices, prioritize factors such as quality of life, connectivity, and visa access.
Dubai's leading position is attributed to its extensive international flight network, while Abu Dhabi excels in internet speed. Established destinations like Málaga, Miami, Lisbon, Palma, and Barcelona maintain their positions in the top 10. Reflecting strong demand, prime rents across the 30 locations in the index have risen by an average of 2.9% this year. The growth of digital nomad visa schemes, now offered by 67 countries, further boosts the appeal of these locations. Markets are adapting, with Canada and New Zealand introducing revised long-term visitor visas to attract digital and executive nomads.
Since 2020, the number of countries offering specialized digital nomad visas has surged. Over 30 countries now provide such programs, with many more expected to join in the coming years. This trend reflects economic diversification efforts, population decline concerns, and international competition among destinations seeking to attract remote workers.
The Executive Nomad Index 2025 highlights the growing appeal of destinations that cater to the needs of high-earning remote professionals. As digital nomad visa programs continue to expand, so too does the global appeal of these locations. With strong demand and rising rents, cities are adapting to welcome executive nomads, fostering a dynamic and evolving global landscape for remote work.
