UnionPay in collaboration with UOB introduces a cashback program for Singapore residents traveling to China.

United Overseas Bank (UOB) and UnionPay International have joined forces to launch the SplendorPlus Campaign, offering UOB UnionPay cardholders an exciting opportunity to earn increased cashback on eligible purchases, both locally and overseas.

Under this new initiative, cardholders will enjoy a 2% cashback on all retail purchases, without any minimum spend requirement. This cashback applies to transactions made both in Singapore and abroad. For those venturing to mainland China, an additional 3% cashback awaits, making it possible to earn up to 5% cashback on purchases until December 31.

The SplendorPlus Campaign is a testament to the long-standing partnership between UOB and UnionPay, which focuses on developing cross-border payment solutions and enhancing customer experiences across the region. UnionPay cards are widely accepted in Singapore, with support from UOB's extensive merchant network. This means cardholders can enjoy the benefits of this campaign across retail, dining, transport, and tourism sectors.

UOB is one of the leading local banks in Singapore to issue a UnionPay credit card, reflecting the growing acceptance of UnionPay in the Singapore market. The initiative comes as travel between Singapore and China continues to expand, with Singaporeans consistently regarding China as one of their most visited destinations.

In the second quarter of 2025, Changi Airport reported a 15.8% year-on-year increase in Singapore, China passenger traffic. This increase, nearly three times higher than Changi Airport's overall growth of 5.9% during the same period, underscores the growing connection between the two countries.

It's important to note that the SplendorPlus Campaign does not apply to transactions made via third-party mobile wallets such as Alipay and WeixinPay.

Mr. Wee Ee Cheong, the CEO (Chairman of the Board) of United Overseas Bank (UOB) in Singapore, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "The SplendorPlus Campaign is a significant step forward in our commitment to providing our customers with rewarding experiences. We are confident that this initiative will further strengthen our relationship with UnionPay and enhance the value we offer to our customers."
