University Buzzing with Activity: €4M Wave Energy Project, Deep-Sea Drilling Support, New Offices & Conferences

The university and its partners are buzzing with activity. From supporting deep-sea drilling to opening new offices, hosting conferences, and launching institutes, here's what's happening.

The COIN project, led by the Leichtweiß Institute, has received a €4 million boost from Horizon Europe. It will kick off on 1 November, uniting eight European organizations—TECNALIA, INESC-TEC, CNR, WavEC Offshore Renewables, Ifremer, DTU, ISPRA, and AW-Energy—to innovate wave energy solutions.

Our university is lending a helping hand to the GFZ Helmholtz Centre. It's providing the HiPerCoRig for underwater drilling at depths up to 200 meters.

On campus, the PVZ has opened a Parent-Child Office in room 422 for caregiver emergencies. It's bookable via the Outlook calendar.

The INTERXR project's final conference is set for 25 and 26 September. Titled 'Immersive worlds, real education?', registrations close on 21 September.

Mark your calendars for 23 September. An online event will discuss the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship.

Celebrate democracy on 15 September from 11:55 AM on the university square. Numerous actions are planned.

The 'Impulse Snippets' digital series continues. Prof. Simone Kauffeld will share insights on designing meetings on 16 September, with no registration needed.

Another digital event, this time on the Toolbox for Conversation Leadership, is set for 17 September, also registration-free.

Prof. Fahim Mohammadi is taking the helm of the new Institute for Design Methodology and Representation. He'll also teach the basics course in this field, having previously led the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart.

The first Summer School on 'Automotive Circular Economy' wrapped up at the joint campus in Wolfsburg. Students from various disciplines brainstormed ideas for sustainable car production.
